CONNECTING TO ROCKSTAR SERVERS...

Rockstar finally gave us a date. GTA 6 Trailer 3 Release Date Confirmed, officially called "An Extended Look," is coming Thursday, August 27, 2026. No more digging through Trailer 1 timestamps or arguing about earnings-call dates on Reddit, it's confirmed straight from the studio. This lands about three months before GTA 6 itself launches on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, a date that's already been pushed back twice, first from fall 2025 to May 2026, and then to November.
The speculation around this trailer got a little out of hand honestly. People were reading into a police body-cam timestamp in Trailer 1, mapping out Take-Two's earnings schedule, treating random website changes as secret signals. Turns out none of that was needed. Rockstar just posted it on their own newswire, plain and simple, which is about as solid a source as you're going to find in gaming news.
An Extended Look premieres on Netflix Thursday, August 27 at 3 p.m. ET. It'll also go up on Rockstar's own YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI website later that day, at 9 p.m. ET.

So there's a six-hour gap between the two. Netflix subscribers get it first, everyone else waits until that evening.
It's not a coincidence that this lands right ahead of Take-Two's next earnings call, about three months out from launch. Rockstar's done this before with earlier titles too. Pre-orders opened back on June 25, cover art dropped with them, but so far there's been zero actual gameplay shown.
For anyone who hasn't been following closely, Trailer 1 came out in December 2023 and introduced Vice City along with Lucia, one of the two leads. Trailer 2 followed in May 2025, bringing in Jason Duval and setting up their Bonnie-and-Clyde style story. Both were pretty cinematic, not much actual gameplay in either one, which is why people are hoping this third trailer finally breaks that pattern.

Rockstar hasn't said what's actually in this trailer, so take the following as informed guessing rather than confirmed detail:
This is expected to be the final substantial marketing push before launch, after two trailers that barely showed any gameplay.
Fans are hoping this one finally shows real gameplay footage and hints at the plotline, something both earlier trailers skipped entirely.
Some reports mention a closer look at the story, new locations, and Jason and Lucia's heist mechanics, though again, none of this is confirmed by Rockstar.
Worth remembering none of this is guaranteed until the trailer actually drops.
