Yes, but it's not what most people picture when they think "physical game." Rockstar's support page confirms the box contains a download code, not a disc. You install the game digitally either way.

Physical buyers aren't left out of pre-loading, at least. Codes redeemed before launch start downloading on November 12, the same day digital pre-load access opens. GTA 6 Physical vs Digital: Which Version Should You Buy?

Here's the part that catches people off guard: there's no physical Ultimate Edition. Buy the box, and you're getting Standard only. Want Ultimate content later? You'll buy the Ultimate Edition Upgrade separately through the PlayStation or Xbox store. It's the same process whether your original copy was physical or digital.

Skip the both-sides framing on this one. If you want Ultimate Edition content from day one, digital is the only way to get it without a second purchase. Digital vs Physical Pre-Order Bonuses

Both editions come with pre-order incentives, but they're not identical.

Digital pre-orders and purchases made before November 20, 2026 include the Vintage Vice City Pack (a car, outfits, hairstyles, and an exclusive weapon pattern) plus one month of GTA+ membership.

Physical pre-orders get the Vintage Vice City Pack too. They don't get GTA+. That's listed under the digital bonus terms only. Rockstar hasn't published a matching cutoff date for the physical bonus the way it has for digital, so if that changes, treat November 20 as the confirmed deadline and the physical timing as open.

Are There Region Restrictions for GTA 6 Codes?

This barely comes up in other coverage, but it matters if you're not buying from the US or UK.

PlayStation codes are locked to the region your account is registered in. Rockstar splits countries into nine groups: North America, the UK on its own, Brazil separately, and a broad "Rest of EMEA and Asia" bucket that includes countries like India. A few countries, including some in South Asia, aren't listed in any of the nine groups as of this writing. If that's you, there's no official Rockstar guidance on which region applies to your account, so stick to a storefront in your own country rather than importing.

Xbox is simpler: codes aren't region-locked at all. If your country doesn't map cleanly onto the PlayStation list, Xbox is the more predictable buy.

One more regional detail: in Japan, digital codes expire 170 days after launch. Not a purchase to sit on.
